Peakworks Peakpro class A, P, full body harness equipped with 3 D-Rings, Quick-Connect buckles

Peakworks Peakpro class A & P, full body fall arrest harness equipped with 1 stand-up back D-Ring and 2 positioning lateral D-Ring. Webbings on the chest and at the thighs feature quick-connect buckles for easy donning. This full body harness is ideal for general tasks at heights which require this type of equipment such as maintenance or construction work.

This safety harness is equipped with one back D-ring made of steel. The base of this D-ring is padded for added comfort for the worker. Moreover, it prevents straps from tangling. Also includes trauma straps to allow the fallen worker to stand up while awaiting recovery and avoid losing consciousness.

This harness can support a weight of 400 lb (181.4 kg) including clothing, tools and equipment.

The Peakworks Peakpro safety harness is made with high visibility colored polyester webbing. In addition, they have distinct colors for easy donning. The straps are padded on the shoulders, back and legs to provide more comfort for workers. To improve safety, this harness is equipped with a sub-pelvic strap. Polyester straps offer better resistance to acidic chemicals.

The chest and thigh straps are joined by quick release buckles. This harness has 5 adjustment points: 2 on the legs, 2 on the torso and 1 on the chest. Product identification and certification labels are sewn onto the back straps on the left side of the safety harness. It includes a fall indicator for easy inspection.

Inspection:

The worker is responsible for visually inspecting the harness before each use. During this routine inspection, the worker must note any signs of degradation, malfunction, or breakage. The harness will have to be replaced if any such signs are detected.

On top of this routine inspection, the harness must be inspected by a qualified person different than the worker. The frequency of these inspections varies according to the manufacturer. Some manufacturers require an inspection every 90 days, others every 180 days, or even yearly. These inspections should be performed more often if the harness is worn in extreme environmental working conditions.

The recommended lifetime of a harness is 5 years. While some manufacturers keep silent on this topic, in practice, if the lanyard is used regularly and stored and maintained in standard conditions, its lifetime will not exceed 5 years in most cases.

Any equipment that has withstood a fall or an impact must be scrapped.

Maintenance:

For cleaning, use a gentle soap or detergent and lukewarm water (37°C). Do not use bleach, chlorine or other abrasive or chemical products. If your harness is too dirty or contaminated, it is time to replace it. Air dry without using heat in a clean environment. You can accelerate the drying process by wiping the wet harness with a clean absorbent wipe, or by using a fan. Avoid exposure to sunlight and to any sources of contamination.

Fall Arrest vs. Fall Restraint – It’s Important to Know the Difference

There are some important differences between the terms fall restraint and fall arrest, and it’s extremely important to know these differences when working at height. To comply with current height safety regulations, it’s imperative to follow these steps:

Avoid working at height where it’s reasonably practicable to do so.

Where work at height cannot be avoided, ensure the place you’re working in is safe to work from & select appropriate fall restraint equipment (such as edge protection barriers).

Use restraint PPE to stop the worker from reaching a fall hazard. The fall hazard could be an unprotected roof edge or an opening at ground level (such as an open manhole).

Use fall arrest PPE to limit the distance and consequences of a fall. This option should always be the last resort and must also include adequate means of rescue.

What is a fall restraint system?
A fall restraint system prevents the worker from being able to reach fall hazards. Fall restraint equipment normally includes a fixed-length lanyard connected to a suitable anchorage point at one end and the worker safety harnessed at the other. The length of the lanyard is adjusted to prevent the worker from being able to reach a fall hazard. Fall restraint systems are also referred to as ‘work restraint’ or simply ‘restraint’ systems.

When should I use fall restraint equipment?
A fall restraint system should always be considered before a fall arrest system (in accordance with the current working at height regulations). A fall restraint system might also be considered where limited ground clearance is available below the work area. Typically, a fall restraint system requires less intervention from the worker as they’re able to work continuously at a fixed distance from the anchorage point. There is also less need to have a rescue plan in place for the duration of the work as there should be no chance of the worker falling or being suspended in their harness.

What does ‘fall arrest’ mean?
A fall arrest system provides maximum freedom of movement for the worker; however, in doing so, it also enables the worker to reach a position where an accidental fall could occur. In the event of a fall, the fall arrest system ensures the worker will be caught before descending. Fall arrest equipment must be selected and positioned to limit the distance and consequences of the fall.

When using a fall arrest system, you will need to utilise a fall arrest harness and an appropriate lanyard. Fall arrest harnesses work by decelerating any momentum from a fall by absorbing the kinetic energy. Fall arrest harnesses are ergonomically designed to provide utmost comfort, both while working at height and in the event of a fall.

Easyfit international version fall arrest work harness

Description
The international version Petzl Newton Easyfit fall arrest work harness is complete and certified according to European, Russian and North American standards.

Petzl designs a super comfortable harness to wear thanks to the Easyfit structure which consists of padded shoulder straps and Fast LT Plus automatic buckles on the leg loops.

Keeping your feet on the ground you will put on the harness in no time and your freedom of movement will always be at the top during the various rope maneuvers. Two attachment points, sternal and dorsal, will allow you to hook the fall arrest system.

Completing the Newton Easyfit leg loops and adjustable shoulder straps thanks to the DoubleBack self-locking buckles and two gear loops.

The international version is equipped with a clever system that allows you to organize the MGO connectors of the fall arrest lanyards on each shoulder strap, without hindering you in your movements. In the event of a fall, this system allows the absorber to be opened freeing the MGO connectors.

You also have a fall indicator which consists of the appearance of a red sling following a fall, on the sternal or dorsal attachment point to indicate that the harness must be removed.
